Blasters in Paradise
Here's a little wall hanging pillow thingee I made for a group art show here in Columbus. The show is entitled "Hot Love and Damage" and the pillow is named "Blasters in Paradise." I think it would make a good toilet seat cover if I didn't think toilet seat covers were totally gross. It has Star Wars action figure guns sewn on. I don't know where the figures are. Somewhere in the basement I suppose. Poor gunless boxed up Star Wars people. I had been keeping this little gun collection sealed away in a fancy velvet covered watch box for some time, so they should be happier now. My husband has 4 paintings in the show too. They are much better than this. haha. I can't find pictures of them right now otherwise I would show them off. Check it out at the High Five in the Short North if ya like. Eww....to toilet seat covers! They are only step away from padded toilet seats! Yuck yuck! (Apologies to anyone who has and loves their padded loo seat, but I just don't get it!)

i hate padded toilet seats too! they always skeeved me out bigtime. they were always plastic/vinyl and felt all wrong under the bum! if you have to have a padded seat, you're spending too damn long in the bathroom! grosssssss......


but anyway, jenny, that is AWESOME. i love juxtisposition of cute vs. not cute at all. but the little guns are sort of cute....:P it's just great! i'd love to see what your husband did too!

That is so great! I love it...the guns looks so sweet and innocent!

I really really love that, Id be happy to hang that in my house. Id love to see you do something like this, but make it so it opens like a medicine cabinet? Maybe put a little diorama inside. Your creativity never ceases to amaze me =)

thanks! thats a cool idea. how about with moving parts!? I made a thing once that had a little curtain that opened up and a crank made these little things go round and round.

THIS IS EFFING BRILLIANT.

For serious.
Maybe it's just the endless critiques of graduate school talking, but it seems like so many mixed messages could be read into this piece it's staggering.

What's the base for the pillow made out of? Is it an entirely stuffed piece, or does it have some sort of rigid element in it for hanging purposes?

I have a Huge bag of guns and accessories from all of the action figures I collect...still holding on to them...there are uses for them:)
My friend Stephen hangs all of his up on the wall in his tattoo parlor...looks Really interesting...all the little mini machine guns, etc.

wow, my husband walked by and said "what are all those star wars guns on there?" I had to read your text to confirm, indeed they are star wars guns. How do boys know these things? I bet if I asked he could do the sound effects for each one as well. scary..
